What would it profit a person to gain everything the world has to offer, only to lose their soul in the end? Jesus asked this very question in Mark 8:36, and it cuts through every distraction to get at what truly matters. Many people spend their lives chasing careers, possessions, and status without ever stopping to ask what it all adds up to in eternity. God gave us a clear formula in Matthew 6:33: seek His kingdom first, and He will take care of everything else. The problem is that most people are trying to do the adding themselves, leaving God out of the equation entirely. Everything in this life is temporary and on loan. The decisions made in this short window of time determine where a person spends eternity. You have too much to gain and too much to lose to keep treating God as an afterthought.
