Trusting in God to Finish the Year Strong
Bible Study
Opening Scripture
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to
completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Introduction
As the year comes to a close, many people reflect on what they have gained, lost, learn
ed,
and endured. Finishing the year strong is not about personal perfection or achievement—it is
about trusting God’s faithfulness to complete what He has started.
Key Teaching Points
1. God Finishes What He Starts
Hebrews 12:2 reminds us that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. God does not
abandon His work in us, even when the journey feels difficult.
2. Trusting God When the Year Didn’t Go as Planned
Proverbs 19:21 teaches that although we make plans, God’s purpose prevails. Delays and
detours often carry divine direction.
3. God Gives Strength for the Finish Line
Isaiah 40:29–31 assures us that God renews the strength of those who wait on Him. Our
endurance flows from dependence on God, not self-effort.
4. God Works Even at the End
Joel 2:25 reminds us that God restores what was lost. He can bring breakthrough and healing
even in the final moments of the year.
Practical Steps to Finish the Year Strong
• Reflect with gratitude on what God has done.
• Release disappointments and unmet expectations.
